2. Enjoy the crystal clear waters of Tallebudgera Creek
As you walk along the coastal track at Burleigh Heads you will come across Tallebudgera Creek. This local favourite boasts calm and crystal-clear waters that are perfect for swimming and stand-up paddleboarding. The creek’s serene surroundings make it a great spot for a family picnic or a leisurely sunbathing session. We loved going to for a dip here after walking along the Burleigh Heads track.

3. Relax in Currumbin Rock Pools

The Currumbin Rock Pools are only a short 15 ,minute drove from Currumbin. Pack a picnic bag, snacks and enjoy the day jumping off the rocks and exploring the cascading falls.

Stretching along 57 kilometers of pristine coastline, the Gold Coast offers a beach experience like no other. Grab your swimsuit, sunscreen and start exploring these coastal gems that make the Gold Coast a true beach lover’s paradise. Some of our favourite beaches were Broadbeach, Palm Beach and Surfers Paradise Beach.
5. Explore Surfers Paradise on foot
Stroll through Surfers Paradise to experience the vibrant heart of the Gold Coast. While it’s known for its nightlife and iconic beachfront, you can simply wander along the esplanade, enjoy street performances and soak up the bustling atmosphere. Be sure to check out the Surfers Paradise Beachfront Markets for some local crafts and delicious street food.
A cheap option of transport while you are here is to jump on the Green Lime Bikes. We rode from Palm Beach to Surfers paradise. With an abundance of bikes scattered all along with Gold Coast you wont have to walk too far to find one! Prices are around $1.00 AUD a minute so peddle quick.
6. Watch sunset from North Burleigh Lookout
For a panoramic view of the coastline, make your way to the North Burleigh Lookout. This spot offers breathtaking views stretching from Surfers Paradise to the south, all the way to Burleigh Heads in the north. It’s a fantastic place to watch the sunrise or sunset and capture some stunning photographs.
7. Explore the beautiful Lamington National Park- Our favourite free activity on the Gold Coast.
A little further inland, Lamington National Park is a treasure trove of rainforests, waterfalls and stunning vistas. The roughly one hour drive to Lamington National park is worth it. Be sure to check out the Moran Falls Lookout for a magnificent view of waterfalls cascading into the valley. A great day hike is Forest Box circuit which is a 10.9km hike and includes Darragumai Falls, Tullerigumai Falls (Box Log), Picnic Rock and picturesque Elabana Falls.
8. Visit the waterfalls in Springbrook National Park
Springbrook National Park is another gem in the Gold Coast’s hinterland. The park is home to enchanting natural wonders such as the Natural Bridge, a unique rock formation that creates a picturesque waterfall and cave. Explore the park’s walking tracks and discover the mesmerizing glowworms in the Natural Bridge Cave.
We visited Springbrook National Park just after summer and unfortunately there wasn’t much water in the waterfalls. I still really enjoyed floating at the bottom of Twin Falls in my pink donut!
