7 best things to do in Krabi.
Learn how to rock climb.
Krabi is hands down one of the best places in the world to learn rock climbing and it’s not hard to see why. The location is unbeatable—right on the stunning Railay Beach. Imagine yourself scaling towering limestone cliffs, then turning around to take in the breathtaking view of Thailand’s pristine beaches below. This was exactly our experience, and it quickly became one of our favourite activities in Krabi.
You might think you need to be super strong or have some rock climbing experience, but trust us, you don’t! Our group was full of beginners and almost everyone made it to the top of their rope. We booked a half-day course through Klook ANZ with Real Rocks and we can’t recommend them enough!
The experience starts at their office, where you’re fitted with helmets, harnesses and climbing shoes. After a quick boat ride, you walk to the cliff where the adventure begins. Each rope is managed by a professional team member from Real Rocks, who not only ensures your safety but also guides you on where to place your hands and feet—a huge help for first-timers.
The half-day tours last about 4 hours, with sessions starting at either 8 am or 1 pm and it’s only around $67 AUD per person. Seriously, it’s worth every penny!

See Railay Beach – Thailands most popular beach
Railay Beach is a gem tucked away on a small peninsula between Krabi and Ao Nang, accessible only by boat. With its four pristine beaches, towering limestone cliffs, breathtaking viewpoints, mysterious caves, local shops, and a hidden lagoon, it’s no wonder Railay is one of the most popular destinations in the area.
Getting to Railay is easy—it takes about 15 minutes by long-tail boat. You can book a ride at local tour shops or ask your hotel to arrange it for you. We loved spending a few hours here, swimming in the crystal-clear waters and soaking in the stunning views. It’s the perfect spot to unwind and immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Thailand.
Phi Phi Island tour
If you’re wondering about the best things to do in Krabi, Phi Phi Islands should be at the top of your Krabi list. We booked a day tour through Klook ANZ , which included stops at Monkey Beach, Tonsai Bay and Viking Cave, with a snorkeling session at Loh Samah Bay.
Would you love to visit more tropical destinations like this? Then you would love our guides to Rarotonga and the pristine Aitutaki in the Cook Islands.
As we pulled into the lagoons, I was absolutely stunned by the view. The water was a crystal-clear, bright turquoise, surrounded by lush green limestone cliffs—truly a breathtaking landscape. We anchored in the lagoon for a swim and the water was refreshingly warm, especially compared to the cooler waters of Western Australia. For lunch we were dropped off at Phi Phi Island, where we had time to relax on the famous beach, browse some boutique shops and enjoy a delicious meal.

Book a private luxury long tail tour to Hong Island
If you’re looking for a more luxurious, private long-tail boat experience we highly recommend booking with Boat and Beyond. They offer exclusive, high-end long-tail tours from Krabi and Phuket, with a variety of tailored options to choose from.
We opted for the Hong Island tour which included a stop at Lading Island. This small, stunning island had a beautiful beach lined with palm trees. The vibe here was so relaxing that we could have easily spent the entire day lounging by the shore. Next we visited Hong Island, which is larger and boasts another gorgeous beach. If you’re an early riser we recommend visiting Hong Island first thing in the morning. This is ideal for enjoying the beach all to yourself. The team from Boat and Beyond set up a picnic rug in the shade, making it a perfect spot to unwind.
Our final stop was at the breathtaking Hong Lagoon, a crystal-clear lagoon surrounded by lush limestone cliffs. This was hands down my favourite part of the tour! We indulged in a delicious champagne brunch featuring an array of fruits, fresh orange juice. Vegetarian Pad Thai, rice paper rolls and local desserts. You can choose your food package prior to your tour. We absolutely loved sitting back, sipping champagne, and enjoying our gourmet lunch in such a serene setting.

Sample local food at Ao Nang night markets
The Ao Nang night markets are a must visit for anyone looking to indulge in authentic Thai cuisine. From the moment you step into the lively atmosphere, you’ll be surrounded by the enticing aromas of freshly cooked dishes.
Whether you’re craving classic Thai food or something a little different, the variety here is impressive. With such a diverse selection, there’s something to satisfy every palate.
One of the best parts? The markets are free to enter, making them an affordable and enjoyable evening out. Conveniently located right on the main road in Ao Nang, the markets are easily accessible and offer a fantastic way to immerse yourself in the local food.
During our visit, we couldn’t resist sampling a bit of everything. We did a few laps around the stalls before finally settling on some mouth-watering Pad Thai, juicy chicken skewers, a refreshing coconut milkshake and a delicious Nutella roti YUMMMM!

For the first four nights in Krabi, we stayed at the stunning Avani Ao Nang Cliff Resort. Nestled on the cliffside and surrounded by lush rainforests in Ao Nang. This hidden gem offers a serene escape with breathtaking views.
